HOT SULPHUR SPRINGS, COLORADO, JUNE 16, 2005

Hi Everyone

After 2 days of hell on Amtrak and a Greyhound bus, We're in Hot Sulphur Springs, Colorado. We had a nice, long hot soak in the springs and I feel revitalized and refreshed. Now, the fun begins. I get a massage (sorely needed, lemme tell you) at 10am tomorrow morning, and am I EVER looking forward to it.

Then, Dave and I drive up to Steamboat Springs for a 7 day timeshare and I'm gonna shoot (photos) of Wildflowers. It's 75 here, fluffy white clouds, thunderheads and lovely. Tonight we go to Riverside Hotel for a special meal... and I have champagne in the fridge at the motel. So, how does life get any better than this? ha ha

Actually, Amtrak isn't terrible--just the Denver-Granby railroad was supposed to be 2.5 hours and it took 4 hours. I guess Union Pacific owns that rails and there were lots of freight trains that we had to wait for. Coach in Amtrak is okay--but I'm spoiled with roomettes where you can stretch out, lay down, sleep, nap or close the door and let the world go away for awhile. Dave and I had to get up at 4 am on 6.14 to catch the Southwest Chief at Flagstaff--and I went and forgot my cell phone and left it in the car. Boy, do I miss that cell phone, sez the Gemini, ha ha.

Tomorrow, a massage to start my day off right, and then a 70 mile northerly jaunt to Steamboat Springs. We've been in this area before and love it, but I'm looking forward to new territory and new mountains to hike in to find those lovely wildflowers. I hope your past few days have been good, too--Uranus has gone retrograde but is still shaking itself out.

The car we rented here from Avalanche Rentals in Granby, left the Dodge Neon at the AMTRAK station. We got in, turned it on and NO air conditioning--just unrelenting HOT air... Egawds... last thing I needed, lemme tell you after trying to escape 100 degree (Fahrenheit) heat where we live in the Sedona area... So, we drove it back to the rental place, and they replaced it with a black Honda Accord with 87,000 miles on it.

I feel like we have "rent a wreck"--but it works and the air conditioning works, so I'm not complaining. All I want it to do (and with Transiting Uranus on my poor little Pisces Moon for 1.5 months now, and 1.5 months to go...) is get there in one piece and not have it break down.

Things are looking up. The first day was 18.5 hours of travel by train and bus. We got into Denver at 10:30 pm last night. We luckily got a cab and went to the Executive Hotel about 1 mile from Union Station. It was nice but the worst thing was--no coffee. And I thought we could get coffee at Union Station the next morning--wrong. Dave had to leave and hunt down a restaurant that was barely open at 6:30 am. But, it was Starbucks coffee, so things turned out just fine. As long as I have my coffee, I'm in a good mood, ha ha.

More as I get computer time

Warmly,
Eileen
