APHORISM 10
"Without the vital force the material organism is unable to feel, or act, or maintain itself. (a) Only because of the immaterial being (vital principle, vital force) that animates it in health and in disease can it feel and maintain its vital functions.

(a) "Without the vital force the body dies; and then, delivered exclusively to the forces of the outer material world, it decomposes, reverting to its chemical constituents."

COMMENTS BY EILEEN:
Without the Vital Force being present (in all its functions which I expounded up ad infinitum in Aphorism 9), we don't live. That implies that without a spirit invested into the physical vehicle or body, we are not able to maintain our health; indeed, staying alive.

No Vital Force--no life. You are dead. Dust to dust.

DIFFERENT TRANSLATIONS IN [ ] BY GABY:
"Without the vital force the material organism is unable to feel, or act, or maintain itself. (a) Only because of the immaterial being (vital principle, vital force) that animates it in health and in disease can it feel and maintain its vital functions.

[The material organism - thought without vital-force - is uncapable of feeling, activitiy , of self-preservation; (*) only the immaterial being (the vital principle, the vital force) animating the material organism in state of health and disease , confers to him all feeling and causes his vital functions. GR]

(a) "Without the vital force the body dies; and then, delivered exclusively to the forces of the outer material world, it decomposes, reverting to its chemical constituents."

[It is dead and , now merely subjected to the power of the physical outer world, it decomposes and is again dissolved into his chemical components. GR]

COMMENT BY PAUL:
A continuation from Aph 9. Please refer back to my previous posts concerning the four structures of our earthly composition, namely:

Physical - mineral/elemental subject to physico-chemical laws . Etheric - akin to plant level and representing the growth forces of life. Astral/soul level - our level of feelings, desires/aversions, emotions, pleasure and pain. - which we acknowledge in the animal kingdom Ego consciousness - our conscious link on earth which connects to our higher spirituality. Through this conscious we find our space and attempt our mission in life.

Now in our waking healthy state these 4 levels are all integrated in harmony and in tune with whatever situations we are facing.

But what happens when we sleep? Well, we lose consciousness, so our ego consciousness "separates" or becomes detached from the body. Our astral or soul level does likewise. For proof, you cannot sleep if you are experiencing on this level. Try pinching someone (sensation of pain) or try sleeping when too cold, or hot or hungry etc. But we stilll stay alive, so the etheric still interacts with the physical. In the morning, our ego/astral incarnate again and hey presto - "we wake up !!!"

At death we see a difference in that the etheric also dissociates, i.e. no more life or growth force. This takes about 3 1/2 days to complete, and then we see a decay starting to take place of the physical. The only laws left are the physico-chemical. Furthermore, there can be no interaction of soul/ego without there being the etheric present. So no vital force means no consciousness and no sensations.

Molecules do not contain inherent aptitudes for experience of sensation or consciousness. We do not live and interact through our elemental composition.

Regards,
Paul
