On October 3, 2005, we're going to have a New Moon solar eclipse. It will occur at 3:28 a.m., PDT at 10 degrees Libra 19 minutes. Libra and Aries people are most affected by this eclipse. Those with the following degrees are most effected: 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 degrees of any sign in their natal chart.

Libra is the sign of peace and war. Many of the great generals were Libra, among them, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, who was responsible for the D-Day operation and winning Europe back from the Germans. We hope this will be a day of peace, but there are indicators that it could be war on certain levels, too.

This is a NEW moon eclipse; which takes the power out of the punch compared to a full moon eclipse, which can be an emotional and visceral gut-punch. A New Moon eclipse is usually lighter than a full moon eclipse. On a new moon, the 'tides' of the blood in the body are at their lowest ebb. Without a lot of excessive water/fluids in the body to put pressure on the sensitive brain, people's emotions aren't going to be quite as trigger-happy as they could be. BUT, there's a fly in the ointment, unfortunately,that ramps this solar eclipse up a lot more than the normal type seen.

ZEUS CONJUNCT THE ECLIPSE

Zeus, one of the Transneptune planets or sensitive points out in space, is at 9 Libra 04 on the day of the eclipse, and is conjunct it. Zeus rules firearms, explosions, fire, the energy expression of fire (lots of added energy for everyone connected with this eclipse -- Libra and Aries folks -- is a bonus), anger, rage, pro-active actions/reactions, terrorism attacks and on the flip side, creativity, aha's, birthing of a new idea, a new direction, a new awareness of thinking outside the box more than usual, are all part of this planet's expression.

CUPIDO SOOTHES THE FRACTIOUS COMBO

There is a nice sextile from the Eclipse and Zeus configuration to Cupido which is at 9 Sagittarius 52. This is about family matter. A nation is a family, for example, on a broader concept level. Or, it can be about your own, personal family. Or your 'work' family, for instance. Cupido is also about the birth of a child on a personal level as well as birth of wonderful, new ideas (in song writing, writing of books, writing of songs, painting, dancing....all the arts are involved with Cupido). So, there is a mitigating and gentling down of testosterone laden Zeus (on the male energy expression of it) to a degree. On the high side, this can mean breakthroughs in creative expression, a birth of a child (literally or a brain child birth, figuratively speaking), powerful ideas that take shape and form. On the low side, this can mean destruction of the family unit on any level but again, being a sextile, this means that there is conscious work being focus and directed toward the family to change it to make it work better. Zeus is a loose cannon on the deck here, with an eclipse because it cannot be counted on not to take action--and it will. It's just a question of what form will it take for those involved?

POSEIDON POSES SOME MILD IRRITATION

And a semi-sextile from Poseidon, planet of truth, at 6 Scorpio 25 is in play as well with these two. A semi-sextile is usually an irritating aspect that causes mild friction, frustration and having to do something differently in order to achieve one's goal, large or small. With TNP's, however, we like to see 1-2 degree orbs and Poseidon is 4 degrees away from the cosmic duo, so its modification is negligible.

MARS ASPECTS IN PLAY

Transiting Mars is at 23 Taurus the day of the eclipse (the degree it went retrograde at October 1,2005) and is making an opposition to Venus in a separating opposition aspect at 25 Scorpio. With a Venus opposite Mars, you get into awareness of your love/like/friends/spouse/children/heart issues all coming to a head. And with Cupido, the family, emphasized, then there may well be communication that creates change and awareness, as an opposition does, during this day. Heart/love issues dominate the day as a result. Try to be understanding and searching for things rather than bombastic, assaultive or abusive. Seek common ground to make compromises because an opposition gives us an opportunity to do just that.

Mars inconjuncts Jupiter on the eclipse, as well. Jupiter is at 25 Libra and this can mean that you promise more than you can deliver--so try to be reasonable, practical and common sensed about any decisions or declarations that you make on this day. It is also a day of starvation or overeating. Try to moderate your food intake, accordingly so you aren't at either end of this extreme scale. On a darker side, Mars can get uncontrollable with a square from Jupiter (too much of some thing) pushing it. You may find some people "going postal" on this aspect, taking their rage out on others with gunfire (Zeus enters the picture here). The square is a choice between looking at what is in your face as a stumbling block or building block. Mars, on it's lighter side, may give you an 'outside the box' look at a problem and how to surmount it or move through it a little better than normal. This is an 'extreme' reaction aspect, so hold on to your emotions and don't knee jerk or go to the lowest common denominator because it won't be pleasant.

There is likely a lot of killing going on over in Iraq and Afghanistan on this day because of the Mars and Zeus factor associated with this eclipse as well. Terrorism can raise its head on this day, so just be more alert than usual.

Mars is also testy in a square with Mercury on the day of the eclipse, as well. It means how we communicate will directly affect the person at the other end of the phone, email, or face time with them. Choose your words carefully, be diplomatic and don't ASSUME anything. If you do, you're diving into a pothole that will bring up the other person's anger and knee-jerk response. Again, constructive talk, with diplomacy, will make this a bridge-building day instead of bridge-destroyer. The choice, as always, is up to you.

Lastly, Mars is opposed Venus, so this can mean a time of building a relationship based upon new awareness, or it can mean a time of decision regarding it. Divorces happen under these aspects. But, so do marriages. No doubt your relationships, both in business and personal, will be tested today.

VENUS semi-sextile JUPITER ASPECT

This is a minor aspect that signal irritation. People are going to be 'prickly' today no matter what. To move to the positive side of this energy, diplomacy and tact will win the day. Without it, you are liable to insert your foot into your mouth and do some damage. Then, you're going to have to exert damage control but because this is an eclipse--you can do 1-3 years worth of damage. So, seriously THINK first before you blurt something out because it's going to have widening ramifications for a long time to come. Better to not let your Ego get the best of you and try to see the other person's point of view, than get stubborn and dig in.

MERCURY conjunct JUPITER

Eclipses can bring lots of things to light and they aren't all 'bad'. With Mercury conjunct Jupiter this means good news is coming to those who have earned it. Specifically, those with Libra in their chart, will derive the benefits of this cosmic gift. Aries people, too, will get some 'go ahead' news that will bring them full circle on things they've been working on, as well. Even if you aren't a Sun in Libra or Aries, but have another natal planet(s) in either of these signs, it shows good news or gifts coming your way based upon the house that they are posited in within your natal chart.

NEW MOON ECLIPSE MEANS NEW THINGS

New Moon always signals "new" things. The eclipse is like a Cosmic light switch being thrown on in an area of our lives that needs to be seen and highlighted. Like a flashlight turned on in a dark room, you get to see something or make an awareness that you had not, before. Further, you can lose a friend or ally as the eclipse shows a dark side or a hidden agenda or modus operandi that you were not aware of before. Also, solar eclipses are about outer events in our external world. It could involve people around you who make you react or react. Think of this as seeds that are planted now, that will be harvested in 3, 6, 9 and 12th months from the above date. Things might now happen right away, but guaranteed you will see action on your planting October 3, 2005, January 3, 2006, April 3, 2006, July 3, 2006 and October 3, 2006. This is because as the eclipse begins with a conjunction, then squares, opposes its original aspect, it triggers off energy that is can be catalyzed, and finally, a year later, conjuncts that position once more. For those who are being catalyzed by it, this is going to be an active, dynamic year of change.

This catalyzation process is going to be very obvious; for a solar (sun) eclipse always brings outer events, such as a person, a group, or a body of individuals who make decisions and you are influenced by them. How much you're influenced depends up on how close to the eclipse you have a planet or your ascendant, Midheaven, for example.

WHO IS AFFECTED?

This time, it is Libra sun sign people and the opposite sign, Aries sun sign people. Libra people born between September 30th through October 4th, are affected. The most emphasis will be on October 2nd for Libra people and they will feel this eclipse the most. Symbolically, this is a seed planting time; new ideas, new ways of thinking, new ways of looking at life, or a problem, for example. Time for the snake to shed his/her skin and get a new look! Or a new attitude change. Or some kind of "aha" that breaks the chains of darkness with those of us who are affected.

By opposite sign, Aries, those whose birthday is between March 30th through April 1st, with special emphasis on March 30th, will feel this eclipse most intensely. For all of you, there are going to be decisions made, because this eclipse is opposite your Sun. This is "put up or shut up" time. The rubber meets the road here, for Aries and Libra people. It is not time to hide, or drag one's feet. It is time to move toward new awareness and opportunities that are coming your way. If you do, then the same situation, person or event is going to repeat itself on the above dates, throughout 2005 and 2006; so you might as well bite the bullet and "just do it" and make a final decision and move on.

THE ECLIPSE SPOTLIGHT IS ON LIBRA

With the hurricanes wreaking their havoc in August and September, we are still in the season. A new moon eclipse may bring a new hurricane to threaten the Gulf area because Zeus is powering the heat factor. Although, Mars has just gone retrograde on October 1, 2005, so the heat plug has been pulled and hurricanes may have a harder time getting to a 4 and 5 stage as a result. It takes hot temperature to create the monster storms. With Mars retrograde, the Gulf is going to start cooling off slowly, so the hurricane threat is very real with Zeus 'pushing' this eclipse.

Libra people involved will find the spotlight on them and new ideas, support, paths and choices are going to open up for them, too. They will see both sides of the coin, and be aware of the other party's intentions. By knowing that, they can make decisions, which definitely are on the plate right now. Libran people will find this a highly active time and they they are adaptable to change, so they'll glide through this eclipse like a breeze.

Because it is an eclipse and the Moon is involved, this gives us pause to look at ourselves in a emotional sense. Just how are we doing as a human being? Are we being too harsh with ourselves? With others? Probably the most important essence of the Moon is PROJECTIONS. Are you projecting your stuff on others unfairly? Stop and look at this, because you're probably doing it because you feel threatened or on the defense with this person, place, group or thing. When we project, this muddles the air and its not the truth--not for you, and not for the other party, either. A projection is what we, personally and subconsciously, don't want to own because it's our Shadow or "bad stuff" that we don't like (or are afraid of), within ourselves. Projection is an easy answer (it's her or his fault, not yours.....something did something to you...you didn't have any energy or play in this scenario....kind of thinking....which is not correct.) Any time we aim a projection out at another, we are harming ourselves and them. This is not healthy.

So, this eclipse will give us all pause to look closely at ourselves. What are we putting "out there" and how is being received by others? Sometimes, we just have to stand naked and vulnerable and state our truth and know that this is enough. You don't need to defend yourself, for the truth of the situation will out. Of course, just because you speak your truth doesn't mean the other party is going to agree or buy it, so just be aware that this might not be a touchy-feely happy conclusion to whatever is going on in your life right now. Be sure to use diplomacy--it will win the day for everyone involved.

Still, telling the truth and owning up to and identifying our projections is the BEST thing we can do in the next week leading up to this energy. This may well be a highly emotional day; much more so than usual, because of the Zeus and Jupiter largess aspects in there, as well. There may be, unfortunately, more suicides than we'd want to see. More family blowups, arguments, and dark, hidden skeletons from the family's closet coming out to haunt everyone at the dinner table. The key here is, Aries and Libra to face the music, listen and hear what people are saying--and then run it through your own screens to sift what you can that is positive and healthy first, for you....and secondly for the other party or people/thing/situation involved.

Family issues and situations are in the spotlight with the sextile to Cupido to this eclipse. And Libra, if you are going to be with family members around this time; be on guard about this possibility and foster an attitude of being gracious, forgiving, and that venting diplomatically so that this can be healing and not salt in the wounds. Take the emotional high road should a family member, friend, coworker, become nasty, belligerent, angry or snotty. They are in pain. Try to rise above your own flash points and triggers, and know that they are needing help...especially your compassion, understanding and love. It will be a real test of you as a person; but knowing that the eclipse, like a light being snapped "on" in a dark room, something out of the darkness is going to raise its head and everyone is going to see it. It is HOW we deal with things at that time, that count. And forewarned is forearmed.

Eclipses begin to be felt 5 days before; and that means from September 28, 2005, onward, you may feel the changes and demands that you become flexible, starting to infiltrate your daily world. Just remain adaptable and you'll get through this just fine.

HOW this eclipse affects these people is entirely dependent upon what HOUSE the eclipse falls in, what PLANET it affects either by conjunction or opposition, as well as the other ASPECTS to that planet, to either modify or intensify this eclipse.

ASCENDANT OR MIDHEAVEN INVOLVED?

If you have an Ascendant (rising sign) at 10 degrees Libra or your Midheaven (10th house cusp), then you are going to be directly affected by this eclipse. How?

If the eclipse highlights your ascendant, expect a person or several people within your circle of friends and acquaintances, to get in touch with you. It might be by phone, email, a letter, or they may be coming to visit you. Since this is autumn and strong family ties are highlighted, I would suggest that there is a family member who is going to take your focus and attention in some way during this time frame.

If the eclipse is conjunct your Midheaven, then you can expect to have ideas or have contacts with people that you work with or for. It may be that you're going to a business dinner; with your boss or someone from work. Pay attention if this is so, because some very good long-term things can come out of it for you and your career.

Remember: whatever happens this coming week (usually the 5 days leading up to the Eclipse are the most active and things are happening, so pay attention....) of October 3rd and be prepared for CHANGE and perhaps, a little CHAOS. Just remember, this is good in the long run, although for some of us, it might not seem to be right now as we enter the "shadow" of the pre-eclipse time. This is a time of bridge-building with connections to families from a global perspective down to our personal family relations. Make this a moment of awareness to help heal wounds in some way, if possible.
